Upon entering the cryosauna, the rising platform will move upwards until your head is visible. Nitrogen gas will then be released into the chamber.
Whole body cryotherapy works by exposing your skin to temperatures below freezing through the release of nitrogen gas in a cryosauna. Check out our step-by-step guide below to see exactly what happens to your body after you enter the cryosauna!
Upon entering the cryosauna, the rising platform will move upwards until your head is visible. Nitrogen gas will then be released into the chamber.
As your body is exposed to the sub freezing temperatures induced by the nitrogen gas, it will trigger mechanisms in your brain to alert the body. Your body will react in survival mode, unaware that you are actually safe.
In order to help you ‘survive’ against the freezing temperatures of the environment, your body will engage in a process called vasoconstriction, which is the constriction of your blood vessels. Vasoconstriction helps blood flow move away from the extremities and towards the core to keep vital organs functioning. To ensure these organs are getting optimal resources, your body will take care to enrich its blood with valuable nutrients and oxygen while removing any toxins or byproducts.
After exiting the cryosauna, your body will recognize the regular temperature of the environment and work to heat itself up, thus increasing your metabolism. Your body will also engage in a process called vasodilation where blood vessels dilate, allowing the enriched blood to quickly travel back through the body and towards its extremities. The peripheral system will quickly absorb the excess nutrients which accounts for a lot of the benefits you experience!
You can continue the rest of your day as you normally would.. Except you’ll feel less sore and more rejuvenated thanks to Cryo Heal and whole body cryotherapy!
